Oscar-winning film director William Friedkin will visit Chapman University’s Folino Theater tonight (Oct. 12) to field questions from the audience after the school screens his 1973 classic, “The Exorcist.” Folino is located inside Marion Knotts Studios at 283 N. Cypress, near the corner of Cypress and Palm, along the railroad tracks. The event is free and Friedkin also is expected to discuss his own highly praised film, “The French Connection,” which was released in 1971 and earned him the Oscar for best director.
Friedkin’s appearance is part of a fall film series that will include a visit by actor Richard Dreyfus on Nov. 2. The school will screen Drefyus’ classic, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” That event also will be held at Folino Theater and is open to the public.

Disco: Glad to hear that you had a good time at the Friedkin event. We’ll be publishing the rest of Chapman’s fall film/actor/directors series shortly. There are some very interesting people coming.
When this movie came out around 1973 it created a HUGE stir — gave everyone ultimate nightmares and everyone was talking about it.
I showed it to my 16 year old daughter recently and her reaction was: she thought it was “funny”. She says here friends who have seen it feel the same.
Her fears consist of being terrified that the types of things she hears on the news might happen to her — these things have her petrified, especialy at night..
Have times changed? You better believe it……
Thanks for the heads-up!
