Here’s a round up of news from Orange County colleges and universities, drawn from newspapers and websites at the various campuses. Note that we have not independently verified the facts in these stories.

pantherReporter Jillian Freitas of the Chapman Panther broke a story that says that senior Connor McGinn was assaulted on Sept. 20 not long after he told an unidentified man to stop harassing women sitting on a bus. Feitas’ story says McGinn and a friend escorted the man off the bus, ending that incident. But McGinn was allegedly jumped by unidentified assailants around 2 a.m.  outside Sandhu Center, the university’s newest residence. He was badly beaten, according to a photo that appeared in the print and online editions of The Panther. We attempted to reach McGinn, but Freitas said that he didn’t wish to talk to The Register. Mary Platt, a spokeswoman for the campus, confirmed that an assault occurred on campus on Sept. 20

…. In an different story,  Chapman reporter Daniel Langhorne reported that three cars have been stolen on campus recently, but that two were recovered ….

Nathan Percy, editor-in-chief of the Weekly Hornet at Fullerton College, writes that, “Members of the non-profit group, Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust, appeared once again on the Fullerton College campus Monday.

“The group, which used large posters of graphic photos as well as information signs, also passed out pamphlets to passersby from late morning to mid-afternoon.

“I would say the says are extremely effective, just because abortion isn’t really something you find on the news, ‘ said Ashley Contaloono, a member of the group.”

In Costa Mesa, reporter Kate Regan of the Coast Report writes that, ” Students at Orange Coast College have been experiencing a rough time trying to get their financial aid this semester and the Financial Aid office is overflowing with students in need.”
