Special hearing TONIGHT on SOCCCD high-tech park in Tustin

ATEP

The South Orange County Community College district that operates Irvine Valley and Saddleback colleges is holding a special board meeting and public hearing at 5 p.m. tonight to discuss its ATEP high-technology park, including adoption of long-range academic plan, market feasibility studies and other important items.

This is a meeting that was postponed from Nov 3.

It’s kind of confusing, I can’t figure out whether the public hearing is supposed to take place in the auditorium, as one document says, or in the chancellor’s conference room, as another one says. I will try to find out and clarify.

The board meeting is scheduled in the chancellor’s conference room instead of its regular venue, which is the first time I’ve ever seen a public hearing scheduled for a conference room. Maybe they don’t expect anyone to show up.

Notice of ATEP public hearing Nov. 12

Okay this is the response I just got as of 8:44 a.m. from the chancellor’s office  as to the venue for the meeting. If they were indeed holding the public hearing after they deliberated on the item, as this seems to imply, that would be, um, well, interesting and yet another first for me after 20 years of covering public hearings.

Official response: The closed session will be held in the Chancellor’s Conference room at 5 p.m. and the open session will be held in the auditorium following closed session.
